Hay River RCMP are trying to track down a man suspected of shooting and seriously injuring another man in what the police allege was a ‘targetted incident.”

Michael Beaulieu, 25, is facing multiple charges after an individual was brought to the Hay River Hospital with a gunshot wound on Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m.

On the morning of Jan. 19, officers in Hay River and members of the Northwest Territories Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant in Hay River in connection with this incident.

As a result of the on-going investigation, Beaulieu has been charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon with ammunition without a licence and failure to comply with release conditions imposed by the court.

A warrant has been issued for Beaulieu’s arrest as he remains at large. Police are asking anyone with information relating to his whereabouts to call the Hay River RCMP or 911.

Beaulieu as described as an Indigenous male, 5’8” tall and weighing approximately 210 lbs. He has distinctive face and neck tattoos, including a black cross under his left eye and Roman numerals on his neck containing, in part “CMXCV.”

Beaulieu is considered armed and dangerous and the public should not approach him if he is spotted.

The Mounties have reason to believe that he may have fled to Alberta and are also asking the public to be on the lookout for a Silver Dodge Ram truck with a homemade plywood capper on the box. If this vehicle is located or seen, you’re asked to contact RCMP.

If you have information on Beaulieu’s whereabouts or anything on this incident, you’re asked to contact Hay River RCMP at 867-874-1111, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at www.nwtnu.crimestoppersweb.com. In the event of an emergency call, 911.
