The Mounties conducted a search of the vehicle under authorization of a search warrant and found an additional $1,580 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and a sizable quantity of alcohol — including 27 bottles of 40-ounce vodka, a bottle of whiskey, a box of wine, 16 cans of beer, and four cans of wine coolers.

All other occupants of the vehicle were detained. Charges are pending and the investigation continues.

“This was a substantial amount of drugs and alcohol heading into the Sahtu community of Fort Good Hope,” the RCMP stated in a Tuesday afternoon news release, adding that tips from the public played a key role in this law enforcement action.
