Five people charged following cocaine bust in Fort Simpson

The RCMP have charged five individuals following a search of a residence in Fort Simpson on June 20 that turned up approximately 65 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than $3,400 in cash and other drug paraphernalia.

The RCMP have charged five individuals following a search of a residence in Fort Simpson on June 20 that turned up approximately 65 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than $3,400 in cash and other drug paraphernalia.

Faith Martel, 23, of K’atl’odeeche First Nation was charged with failure to comply with release order conditions, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of property obtained by crime and escaping lawful custody.

Carl Carpentier, 54, of Fort Simpson; Adrian Tambour, 42, of K’atl’odeeche First Nation; Deidra Villeneuve, 36, of Fort Simpson; and Savy You, 38, of Ontario, were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) and possession of property obtained by crime.

Villeneuve was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. All others appeared before a justice of the peace and were kept in jail.
