Yellowknife RCMP are asking the public for any information on a shooting homicide that happened overnight.

Police say they were called to an apartment building at 42 Con Road at 12:46 a.m. May 17. Upon arrival, police found a 31-year-old male with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services were called but the male died on scene.

This is the fourth firearms-related homicide in Yellowknife since November of last year.

"“Any information, even something as small as just having heard something or seen someone moving around the building may be helpful to investigators," said NT RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Matt Halstead. "Firearm related violence in has no place in our community. We need witnesses to come forward and to help us provide answers to the victim’s family who is now grieving an unimaginable loss.”

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111 or Crime Stoppers at http://www.p3tips.com. In the event of an emergency call, 911.
