A planned telecommunications outage to perform critical mainenance on Northwestel lines will knock out all telecommunications including 9-1-1 from 12:00 a.m. to 5 a.m. July 4.
An announcement was released by Northwest Territories RCMP at 7:01 p.m. July 3.
"All telecommunications will be disrupted in Inuvik, Fort McPherson and Tsiigehtchic due to Northwestel performing critical maintenance," said NT RCMP media relations officer Const. Josh Seaward. "This disruption will affect the 9-1-1 system.
"To report an emergency, members of the public must attend a detachment in person to speak to an officer."
