Second charged in boy's murder

Rankin Inlet

The RCMP has charged a second person with murder in the 2017 death of 12-year-old Ray (OJ) Taparti Jr. in Rankin Inlet.
The announcement was made on Oct. 11.
The name of the second person charged cannot be made public under the Youth Criminal Justice Act as they are under the age of 18.
The RCMP had previously announced that Glenn Kadlak Jr., 21, of Rankin Inlet had been charged with murder in connection to the crime on Oct. 7.
Taparti's remains were found on July 8, 2017, a day after his parents reported him missing for about five days to RCMP.

Rankin Inlet

The annual award-winning Rankin Rock season opener hockey camp is underway this week in Rankin Inlet from Oct. 14 to 19.
The multi-faceted camp features instruction in the minor hockey groups of initiation/novice, atom/peewee girls, atom boys, peewee boys and bantam/midget.
