After a weekend of exhaustive search efforts, Tuktoyaktuk RCMP are calling off search and rescue operations for Ernest Raymond and have moved into recovery mode.
Police announced the change July 20 in a press release.

“This is a difficult time for the community of Tuktoyaktuk," said Tuktoyaktuk detachment commander Sgt. Chris MacDonald. "We are working hard to try to collect any information and evidence as to Ernest Raymond’s whereabouts and provide his loved-ones as to what happened. Our thoughts are with the family at this time."
Ernest Raymond was reported missing July 16 at 3:54 p.m. after he had not been seen in the community for several days. His boat was found near the community close to midnight the same day. He was 50 years old.
Aerial and marine search efforts were conducted near the area of the boat, including along the shoreline. Joining Tuktoyaktuk community members in the search were Canadian Rangers, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Transport Canada and the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association.
The press release notes RCMP have been in touch with Raymond's family as they move the operation to recovery mode.
