Inuvik RCMP seize $40,000 of money, stolen cells phones in bust

RCMP seized stolen cash and cell phones from two individuals on April 28. A man and a woman are now facing criminal charges.

Two individuals are facing charges after RCMP found $40,000 and several cell phones in a piece of luggage and residence.

On April 28, police were at Mike Zubko airport on an unrelated matter when an officer spotted a 20-year-old woman who was a suspect in a drug trafficking case.

Police arrested the woman and the investigation that followed led officers to an apartment in Inuvik. Upon obtaining a search warrant, police searched the residence and some luggage and between the two searches turned up the $40,000 in cash and several stolen cell phones.

20-year-old Natasha Jacobson and 38-year-old Aaron Kay were charged with Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 Sec. 354(1)(a) CC. Aaron Kay was also charged with Breach of bail conditions Sec. 145(5)(a) CC. Both are from Inuvik, NT.

They are scheduled to appear before Territorial Court in Inuvik.
