Aletta Leitch, senior project manager of the Yukon government’s Climate Change Secretariat lays out her government's strategy to reduce greenhouse gases Nov. 30 at the Midnight Sun Complex. With both Inuvialuit and Gwich'in lands crossing the territorial border, our neighbouring government felt it was important to get input from residents of the Beaufort Delta.

Representatives from the Yukon government were at the Midnight Sun Complex on Nov. 30 to discuss their climate change strategy, now in its final public draft form.

While officially a Yukon government plan, Inuvik and the Beaufort Delta's geographical location and connection through the Dempster Highway make residents stakeholders in the Yukon's plan.

The Inuvik Drum was the sole news outlet at the meeting. What does the Yukon government want to do and how does Inuvik play into its climate change strategy?

Subscribers can find out first in the Dec. 12 edition of the Inuvik Drum.
