Fort Resolution RCMP have opened up an investigation after three people were reportedly injured during an incident on June 2.

According to police, officers were called to the community medical clinic in Fort Resolution in the early morning hours after being told about a complaint of an assault with a weapon. When they arrived, three people were found to be suffering from injuries consistent with those from an edged weapon. None of the injuries were life threatening and all three were treated and released.

The type of weapon used wasn't reported by police.

RCMP stated that a 74-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident and charges are pending. Officers were also told that a firearm may have been used as the three victims were fleeing the scene of the incident. That allegation is still being investigated, but a long gun was recovered from the scene.
