Jackie Jacobson's appeal of his defeat to Kimberly Fairman in the race to become the NWT's next Conservative candidate has been denied.

On July 11, just one week after the former MLA announced his appeal in a 16-page letter to the executive director of the Conservative Party of Canada, his team informed NNSL Media that the effort had been rejected.

That should clear the way for Fairman, who received 73 votes to Jacobson's 67, to become the official Conservative candidate in the territory. However, NWT Electoral District Association President Matthew Lakusta said the party is still not ready to announce the result.

Fairman could not be reached for comment about Jacobson's failed appeal.

Jacobson's letter included a long list of accusations — which he claims can be corroborated by other people and verified by emails — dating back to before he officially became a candidate in the race.

He alleges that Fairman was unfairly aided by several affluent members of the party, which he claims would be a violation of the national council's code of conduct.

He concluded by proclaiming that "Ms. Fairman should not be nominated as the candidate for the NWT Electoral District due to the unfair advantage she derived from both a biased and unfair CNC (candidate nomination committee), and the inappropriate support for her campaign that she received."

Jacobson could not be reached for comment by press time.
