Hay River RCMP conducted a search warrant at a residence on the morning of June 4, in support of a firearms investigation, according to the police. They found something else instead: 24 grams of cocaine, $3,700 in cash and additional evidence of drug trafficking.

"No firearm was recovered during the search and this aspect of the investigation remains ongoing," RCMP stated in a June 5 news release. However, they did charge Shaquan Francis-Davis with pointing a firearm.

RCMP have charged both Francis-Davis, 30, of Ontario and Donald Lafleur, 35, of Hay River with multiple offences, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with release conditions.

Two other men were arrested, ages 31 and 57, but the police did not identify them, nor indicate what charges they are facing.
