The federal government continues to splash cash around the NWT. This time, it's new funding to upgrade airports in the NWT.

The territory is getting two new items, according an announcement made on Friday: a snowblower and a loader.

"Nearly $700,000 is being invested to purchase a snowblower in Yellowknife, and approximately $500,000 for a loader in Fort Smith," the release reads.

"These investments will help ensure continued safe and reliable airport operations for Northerners, many of whom depend on their local airports not only for personal travel and community resupply," stated NWT MP Michael McLeod.

The release also announced $13.5 million for projects at four airports in the NWT and Nunavut. Most of it deals with safety-related projects such restoring runways, taxiways and aprons, and equipment.
