A slice of life in Fort Smith

Berro’s Pizza in Fort Smith has been operating since 2007.

Owners Kevin and Darine Berro relocated from Edmonton with three children to establish the business. Their daughter Raya works in the kitchen with her father, who teaches her everything he knows about the fast-food industry and the skills needed to run a successful restaurant.

Every week, the McDougal Centre location is hustling and bustling with customers awaiting their pick-up orders, with pizza and wings being popular items on the menu. Delivery is an option too.

There are 11 people employed through the restaurant, including delivery, kitchen staff and waitresses.

“What’s remarkable is the same kids that grew up here still come back to order the classic chicken donair they can’t find anywhere,” Kevin says. “Why mess with a good thing?”

The restaurant’s appeal isn’t limited to Fort Smith. Sometimes businesses in Hay River and Fort Resolution order pizza for meetings in those communities.
