Hay River RCMP have carried out another search for the four missing fishermen on the western and southern shore line of Great Slave lake, according to a Friday news release.

On Oct. 11 RCMP members teamed up with Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and deployed an aircraft to further search for the fishermen, but there were no reported sightings.

There have been community-lead initiatives to find volunteers to carry out ground searches and the families of the fishermen have also hired helicopters for private searches.

None have found evidence of the missing men.

“We want to remind the community to use extreme caution and plan ahead if going on the land or water as we are facing colder conditions, including snow” stated Sgt Brandon Humbke, Detachment Commander for Hay River RCMP.

“We understand the need for friends and families to look for closure and bring home their loved ones, however we urge caution. We are very sorry for their loss.”

While the file on the fishermen remains active, there are no further searches planned.

Anyone who finds any evidence or trace of the men are encouraged to call RCMP.

The four men were reported missing on Sept. 29 after not reporting back from a commercial fishing trip.
