Dawna O'Brien is the regional vice-president for Hay River on the new executive of the Union of Northern Workers following its 17th triennial convention in Yellowknife from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29.
Other members of the executive include president Todd Parsons, first vice-president Gayla Thunstrom, and second vice-president Nicole Tews.
Rounding out the executive are Lauraine Armstrong, regional vice-president for Fort Smith; Christina Holman, regional vice-president for the Deh Cho; David Bob, regional vice-president for the Beaufort Delta-Sahtu; Josee-Anne Thibault, regional vice-president for Somba K'e; and Rashmi Patel as the equity vice-president.
At a rally outside the territorial legislature on Oct. 27, Parsons called for fair collective agreements with the GNWT, Northwest Territories Power Corporation, and the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority.
