NEIGHBOURLY NEWS: Hamlet elections set for Dec. 10

South Slave

Elections in nine hamlets around the NWT, including two in the South Slave, will be held on Dec. 10.

In the South Slave, the municipal elections will be held in Enterprise and Fort Resolution.

Votes will also take place in Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Fort Providence, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, Tuktoyaktuk and Ulukhaktok.

According to a schedule under the Local Authorities Elections Act, nominations are to open by Oct. 29 and close on Nov. 13. If there is an insufficient number of candidates in a community, the deadline for nominations will move to Nov. 19

 

Exercise theory course in Smith

The Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) will be offering an exercise theory course in Fort Smith later this month.

The course will be for people interested in teaching fitness classes or becoming a personal trainer.

It will be offered from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28 at the Fort Smith Recreation Centre.

The course is the first step in becoming AFLCA certified.

Topics will include anatomy, physiology, movement mechanics, training and conditioning, nutrition, leadership, and health and fitness.

The course includes an exercise theory exam.

Fort Smith seeking committee members

The Town of Fort Smith is seeking submissions of interest from residents who would like to sit on an ad hoc committee to review its Council Honorarium Bylaw.

The deadline to submit an expression of interest form is 3 p.m. on Oct. 19.
