NEIGHBOURLY NEWS: Charges laid over barricade incident in Fort Smith

Charges have been laid in connection with an Oct. 4 to 5 incident involving an armed and barricaded adult male at a residence in Fort Smith.

According to an Oct. 12 news release from the RCMP, 33-year-old Bradley James Hunter of Fort Smith has been charged with uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

Hunter's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 13 in Territorial Court in Yellowknife.

The RCMP news release stated that, due to the court proceedings, police will not be providing any additional information on what is alleged to have occurred.

The RCMP's Emergency Response Team, including negotiators, was dispatched to the incident on Oct. 4.  At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 5, an arrest was made without incident.

 

Health fair planned at Fort Smith Rec Centre

A Fort Smith Health Fair will take place on Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Rec Centre.

People can get their flu shots and obtain information on other health issues.

The event is being presented by the Fort Smith Health and Social Services Authority.

 

Catholic Women's League to host fall fair

The Catholic Women's League in Fort Smith will host a fall fair on Oct. 27 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The event will be held in Charbonneau Hall in the basement of St. Joseph's Cathedral.

It will feature tea, baked goods, crafts, religious articles and more.
