A "number of individuals" have been arrested in connection with a recent suspicious death in Hay River.
Hay River RCMP and Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit confirmed "persons" are in custody following the discovery of a deceased male on the morning of Dec. 28, a statement from RMCP said Thursday.
Notified of a vehicle found on the side of the road near the Sandy Creek area, police discovered a deceased man.
The identity of the man has not been released.
“While the investigators continue with this investigation, we wanted to let the people of Hay River and the Northwest Territories know that we do have persons in custody. At this time, we do not believed there is a concern for public safety in relation to this on-going investigation," NWT RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon stated in the release.
Calling the investigation sensitive, law enforcement didn't release further details, but promised to once the information becomes available.
