Long-service workers mark five to 35 years

The GNWT has once again recognized some of its long-time employees in the Hay River area.

At a ceremony on Oct. 10, workers who had reached five-year milestones – up to 35 years of service – were honoured.

This year, 55 employees were recognized with a combined total of 755 years of service.

"It is through the hard work and commitment demonstrated by you the employees that enables the GNWT to provide the residents of the Northwest Territories with the high quality of service that they receive," Beatrice Oslund, a human resource assistant with the Department of Finance, told the workers being honoured. "On behalf of senior management, I would like to thank everyone being recognized today for their dedication in the performance of their jobs with the GNWT."

Some of the recipients of the GNWT's long-service awards on Oct. 10 were, front, left to right, Beatrice Oslund, Cheryl Melanson, Margaret Jerome, Diane Chisholm, Raelene Lamalice and Laverne Cameron; and, back, left to right, Brent Townend, Ronald Bonnetrouge, Andrew Butler, Maxine Gauthier, David Sanquez, Kathleen Groenewegen, Ken Boyer, Tyler Rea, Robert Larson and Bradley Boudreau. That was followed by 135 years at the Department of Infrastructure; 125 years at the South Slave Divisional Education Council; 85 years with the Department of Finance; 80 years at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources; 65 years with the Department of Education, Culture and Employment; 10 years at Aurora College; 10 years at the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment; and five years with the NWT Housing Corporation.
