More negotiations will take place soon between the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority and its unionized workers.
In an appearance before town council on Feb. 18, Erin Griffiths, CEO of the health authority, said the organization and the workers are still talking.
"And our next tentative dates to be at the table is early March," she said. "So we are still at the table. We are still negotiating."
The workers are members of the Union of Northern Workers/Public Service Alliance of Canada.
There was no response to a call by The Hub seeking comment from Todd Parsons, the president of the Union of Northern Workers in Yellowknife.
Griffiths noted that the workers recently voted against strike action.
The approximately 200 workers voted from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1. The results were announced Feb. 5.
The strike vote had originally been planned for Jan. 17, but was cancelled after three worker representatives on the bargaining team were dismissed by the union. They had tried to start talks with the employer without union involvement. A new bargaining team was elected on Jan. 24.
Negotiations between the health authority and the union began in June of 2017, after the previous contract expired on March 31, 2016.
