A young trapper from Hay River was among the winners of the Trapper Recognition Awards for 2016-2017 announced on Dec. 13 by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Kellan Mandeville was named the top youth trapper in the South Slave Region.
The NWT Trapper Recognition Program honours trappers and the contribution they make to the territorial economy.
Awards are given to the top trapper in four categories in each of five regions: highest sales, highest number of pelts sold, senior trapper and youth trapper.
