The on-screen monsters weren't the only ones at Dead North this weekend.
Yellowknife-based makeup artist Veronica Speers, who recently worked on feature film Elijah and the Rock Creature, led a special effects workshop at Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) on Saturday.
Twenty people showed up to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of special effects and many of them left with a new look.
