A Delta Air Lines flight from Amsterdam to Seattle made an unscheduled landing in Yellowknife Friday afternoon due to a medical emergency.

Delta flight 145 took off from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Friday afternoon, bound for Seattle. Halfway into the 10-hour flight, the Boeing 767-300 landed in Yellowknife, according to flight tracker FlightAware. It was 3 p.m. local time.

A woman in medical distress was taken off the plane and transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital where she remains in stable condition, according to a RCMP news release issued Friday night.

The Canadian Border Services Agency, along with the Yellowknife Airport Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Response also attended the airport following the unplanned stop.

“We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this may have caused,” stated Delta spokeswoman Adrian Gee in an email Friday.

The flight departed Yellowknife and was due to arrive in Seattle Friday evening, she said.
