A Fort Simpson man pleaded not guilty last week to interfering with a pilot during a flight from Fort Simpson to Yellowknife. Stephen Waugh was not in court in Yelllowknife but was represented by lawyer Stephen Shabala.
Man charged in stabbing incident
A 21-year-old man has been charged with stabbing another man after an altercation in Norman Wells. Lindsay McNeely of Norman Wells has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with the stabbing.
A partner in life and church
Gordon Bush serves two higher callings in Fort Smith. Not only is he the husband of Rev. Ann Bush, the Anglican priest in the community, he is also her partner in serving the congregation of St. John's Anglican Church.
The exciting world of food science
According to Grade 12 student Autumn Semple, no one wants to eat gummy bears that don't taste good. "Pea protein doesn't taste good so they have to make it taste as best as possible," the Aklavik student said from the University of Saskatchewan where she is participating in the Be a Food Researcher for a Week program.
One-stop information
Visitors to Fort Smith soon may have a one-stop-shop for information. The Town of Fort Smith and Wood Buffalo National Park have agreed to work on a partnering agreement under which their separate visitor information centres will be combined at the park headquarters.

Fort Smith teen dies suddenly at dance
A Fort Smith teenager died on March 14 after collapsing at a youth dance, part of the Wood Buffalo Frolics winter carnival. The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Trevor Nadary.

Trip of a lifetime
A young woman from the NWT recently had the trip of a lifetime in Japan and on the Pacific Ocean. Candice Lys, 26, was among 11 delegates from across Canada who joined others from around the globe in the 21st Ship for World Youth (SWY) program.
